Back To Nash/EP Almost Here!
Well, we're headed back to Nashville here in a few days. We have a show coming up on the 6th at Whiskey Jam at 7:30pm at a place called Winner's Bar & Grill in Nashville. So if you're in the area, make sure to come out and say hi, we'd love to see you! Also, the first shipment of copies of our EP will arrive on Monday! So come to a show sometime and pick one up! Other than that, we've just been writing new stuff to put on our first full-length album. We have a couple of shows coming up in DFW as well, so check out the home page for info on our upcoming shows. Adam Shoenfeld, (who played electric on the EP), and Scotty Sanders, (who played Steel on the EP), have both been nominated for ACM awards, so a big congratualtions to both of them for that! You guys are awesome, and we'll be rooting for ya'll! Just a reminder that if you haven't purchased "You Go First" on Itunes yet, help us out and go download it! Also, if you really like the song, call in to your local country radio station and request it! Hope everyone has a good start to their February tomorrow!
- Smithfield Writing New Songs
So hopefully you've already taken a few seconds to get on itunes and buy our single,"You Go First". If you haven't, then you need to stop reading this immediately and go buy it! haha. So we've been working on some new tunes in preparation for the first full-length album. We've been really happy with them so far, and can't wait to play them for you guys at a show and get your input. Speaking of which, we'll be playing at Opening Bell Coffee in Dallas on February 24th, so make sure to set aside that Friday night to come and listen to some new stuff, and some stuff you may already know. We'll be headed back to Nashville earlier in February, hopefully to meet with some more people and possibly play a few shows while we're there. The response we've gotten from our single release on itunes has been absolutely overwhelming! The love and encouragement from all of you has been such a blessing to us, and it motivates us every single day to get up and write more music, and push to do what we love to do. You guys rock! So that's about it for now, hope you all are doing well, and we'll keep you posted on everything going on in the world of Smithfield. =-)
- Trey Music on Itunes!
So things have kind of leveled off since our big trip to record and releasing all these songs for you guys. We've already planned our next trip to Nashville in February, hopefully to meet with some record labels and publishers. The biggest news though, is that this week, our last song of the EP, "You Go First", will be available for you to buy on itunes! We're so excited about this one, it's probably my favorite one off the EP, and definitely the most catchy. We have loved sharing the other songs off the demo with you guys for free, so now we ask that in return, you help support our music by going to itunes to purchase our song. With the money, we'll be able to get the demo packaged and duplicated, so please help us out by buying the single when it comes out. We will let you know as soon as it is live on itunes, so make sure to stay posted on that. We have been working on a few new songs lately that are sounding great, and a few pretty awesome covers as well. Hopefully you guys will be able to come see us live, we'll be putting up some tour dates soon, so make sure to come and see us. We'd love to see you! Anyways, hope everyone's New Year has started out well, and we'll keep you updated on all the Smithfield news!
- Smithfield The Holidays/New Song!
So the holidays were crazy, but first, let me just say that we were absolutely AMAZED at all of the love, support, and positive response that we got from the release of "The Dash". It made my holiday season to hear all of the comments that you guys posted about how much the song affected you. Music is above all else about eliciting emotions and connecting with people, so that was really cool and touching for us to hear what you guys had to say about it. THANK YOU! So tomorrow, we will be releasing the second track on the demo for you to download for FREE. It's called "In With The Old", and it's kind of a more fun, up-beat song, so we won't make you cry this time. haha. We'll post on facebook and everywhere else as soon as we get it up on the site so you can go download it and check it out. We're looking to hopefully head back to Nashville sometime in early January, possibly to meet with some people, so we'll keep you posted on all that business. Hope everyone had a great holiday with friends and family, and stay posted for when we get the new song up tomorrow. Merry Christmas, and a happy new year!
- Smithfield Back in Texas!
So we made it back to Texas alright. It was a wonderful trip, and we definitely got a lot accomplished. All of you have been absolutely amazing with your love and words of encouragement over the last few days, and we haven't even put out any of the full songs yet! So from the very bottom of our hearts, we want to say thank you guys SO much. We worked very hard to get this EP together, and we are so excited to share them with you all. We will be releasing one song per week, until we have them all out. One of the biggest things you guys can do is share our website and our songs with your friends. Whether it's through social networking, word of mouth, whatever. You guys are a HUGE part of whether or not we progress through this or not, and we can't do it without you! So help us out and tell a few people you know. We'll have some 2012 show dates coming your way soon! Thanks everyone!
Final Day Of Recording: We're Done!
We finished the demo today! It was a long day in the studio making sure everything sounded perfect, but we are very proud and excited to tell you all that we are done! Now we're on to duplication and packaging, and then we get to let you hear it! Stay posted, as we'll be posting videos and samples leading up to the release of our first cd! Can't wait to take the next step of this journey with you all!
Recording Day 2
It's been a long day in the studio, but we finished vocals today, and now we're on to mixing! It's sounding great, and we're beyond excited to share what we've been doing for the past few days with all of you! We're both definitely learning a lot about the whole recording process; It consists of long hours, and making sure you get it right. Tomorrow we'll be wrapping up here, and then we'll have our first cd! That's all to report for now. Check in tomorrow for more info!
Recording Day:1
The first day of recording our new E P fascinated Trey and I as we watched proffessional studio muscians bring our new songs to life. They would listen to our song one at a time, not even all the way through, then knock it out 10 minutes later. It was amazing to watch them create a tune that we had only heard on the acoustic guitar for months. After three hours of tracking the music, our producer took us out to lunch at Barbara's Homecooking. This place didn't look like much, but man the food was out of this world! In fact, I would even go as far as to say that it was up there with Cracker Barrel. ( In case you don't know, Cracker Barrel is a must for me on every trip, I love it! ) Anyways, after a homecooked meal, we headed back to the studio to start tracking vocals. "The dash" was our most challenging song vocally as far as getting the harmonies down just right. We only finshed tracking the vocals for one song because our steel player showed up to record his part, and by the end of it we called it a night. It was a long day, but when it is something you love and want to do for a career, 9 to 9 goes by fast.
Recording
Next week is when we finally get to record! We'll be in Nashville exactly one week from today recording with Rob Dennis and his crew. We are beyond excited about this EP, and we hope that you guys are too. Some of the studio musicians we have playing on the cd are unreal. Chad, our drummer, has played on albums such as Own The Night by Lady Antebellum, and also The Band Perry's latest album and several more. Really the entire band we'll be working with is just filled with some of the best studio musicians in Nashville. I can't tell you how blessed me and Jen feel with just all that's going on right now, it's a bit unreal at times, especially considering that a year ago, Jen and I had never sung together before in our lives. We really want everyone to be a part of this journey with us though, so we're going to try to document the recording process as well as we can to keep all you folks up to date with what's going on and where we are in the process.
We leave for Nashville on Sunday, and then we'll begin the recording process following Monday morning. We're looking forward to having some stuff for you all to listen to finally, and hopefully it won't disappoint. Jen and I have worked hard getting this thing together, and hopefully it will show when we're done with it, but I think it's something you guys are really gonna like! Stay posted, and we'll let you know how everything's going! |
